Year 7 Enrolment & Transition

Welcoming and Supportive Transition Program

At Boronia K-12 College, we take pride in our comprehensive Transition Program designed to help students and families acclimate to our school community seamlessly. Our approach ensures that by the time February arrives, the only new experience for your child will be stepping into their school uniform for the first time.

We understand that choosing a school and navigating the transition can be overwhelming for parents of future Prep students. That’s why we provide robust support and information well before your child’s first day and throughout their initial year with us.

Our Prep students enjoy the benefits of our dedicated F-2 Building, featuring open-plan learning spaces that promote hands-on learning. This modern facility is equipped with engaging books, digital technologies, and flexible areas for both individual and group activities. This design fosters a vibrant learning environment and helps create a supportive community of learners.

To ensure we know each new student well, our process begins the year before school starts, with kinder visits, transition paperwork, and observations during transition day activities. We kick off the school year with ‘Getting to Know You’ interviews, where you’ll collaborate with your child’s teacher to discuss academic and social-emotional needs. Additionally, our assessments help us understand each child’s starting point and tailor their educational journey accordingly.

We invite you to experience our school community firsthand. Schedule a tour by calling us at (03) 9760 4900 to see our program in action.

Transition to Prep

Our Kinder students enjoy a smooth transition to Prep through their active participation in our school’s broader program. They engage in school events and celebrations, such as Assemblies, Book Week, and Easter, and benefit from our outdoor play spaces and library. Regular visits from key College staff also help ease the transition.

During Term 4, our Transition to Prep program includes five formal sessions where students participate in structured play and learning activities. These sessions help our teachers assess students’ friendships, strengths, and personalities, which aids in forming balanced classes for the following year. We also collaborate with Kinder educators to gain a comprehensive understanding of each new student.
