Response to Intervention

At Boronia K-12 College we use a Response to Intervention (RTI) approach to learning intervention.

Response to Intervention (RTI) is a multi-tier approach to the early identification and support of students with learning and behaviour needs. The RTI process begins with high-quality instruction and universal screening of all children in the general education classroom.

The essential elements of an RTI approach are:

  • the provision of scientific, research-based instruction and interventions in general education
  • monitoring and measurement of student progress in response to the instruction and interventions
  • use of these measures of student progress to shape instruction and make educational decisions
