Camps can provide a valuable educational experience for our students, which are complementary to their learning, as they provide access to resources, environments, and expertise that may not be available in the classroom.
Year 7
The Year 7 Orientation Camp takes place in late February and is 3 days in duration. Building confidence, trust and cooperation is a vital part of the transition process and the year 7 orientation camp aims to facilitate this. Students and teachers have the opportunity to appreciate each other in an outdoor setting away from the school routine. New friendships are formed, and a real sense of belonging begins to flourish.
Year 9
Our Year 9 students are invited to take part in an optional Victorian High Country camping experience. Students will experience camping in tents and a range of camp craft activities including cooking on trangias, campfire activities and orienteering. In addition to bushwalks, students will have the opportunity to experience other activities such as horse riding, archery and paintball. This camp promotes Teamwork, Cooperation, Initiative and Leadership.
Senior School
The Central Australia camp is run biannually and aims to broaden students’ knowledge and appreciation of Australian History, Multi-Cultural diversity and Geographical significance. In addition, it gives the senior students an opportunity to further develop their social network, maturity, social competencies and staff rapport through shared experiences, as well as enhancing their physical abilities and fitness in a safe and enjoyable camp setting. Students travel from Melbourne to Darwin. Along the way, they will get to experience beautiful landscapes such as Uluru, Kata Tjuta, King’s Canyon and the Devil’s Marbles. They will also get to witness some of the world’s most prolific wildlife in Kakadu National Park while experiencing our cultural heritage from the traditional custodians of Australia.
